Well, we promised we’d finally get round to it and we have! Here, in its full twelve inch square super thick original cover, 180 gram vinyl glory is our fifth Byrds release which is very aptly called Fifth Dimension. This was the Byrds third album and it continued the fine traditions laid down by the first two albums. Also the album is fairly notorious because it contained the song Eight Miles High which was deemed to be subversive because of it’s so-called drug references and consequently banned from the radio. In fact, we think the authorities must have been on drugs because the song is quite obviously about a plane journey! Incidentally, Roger McGuinn was actually born James Joseph McGuinn but following his deep involvement with Subud (an Indonesian religion) he decided to change his name to Roger! Obviously an interesting bloke!

Selections: 5D (Fifth Dimension), Wild Mountain Thyme, Mr. Spaceman, I see You, What’s Happening?, I Come And Stand At Every Door, Eight Miles High, Hey Joe (Where You Gonna Go), Captain Soul, John Riley, 2-4-2 Fox Trot (Lear Jet Song).
