This unique Limited Edition LP set features six outstanding Decca recordings from the golden era of analogue stero recording. Spanning a period of twenty years from 1954 and the early days of stereo through to 1974 when analogue stereo recording had achieved an unprecedented level of sonic excellence and Decca's ffss (Full Frequency Stereophonic Sound) was internationally acclaimed. The recordings in this set have been selected from a collection of 50 celebrated recordigns in the 54-CD set Decca Sound - The Analogue Years. Newly presented in luxury 180 gram vinyl pressings the set also includes a newly written book detailing the history of the Decca Sound from this period.
In the late 1940s, the pioneering Decca recording engineers perfected a new set of microphone techniques that allowed the full range of frequencies to be fully heard by listeners for the first time, and the term 'full frequency range recording' was launched. It was a major revolution in sound quality, and the beginnings of high fidelity. Perfected with the birth of stereo in the mid-1950s, Decca's 'Full Frequency Stereophonic Sound' became a worldwide hallmark of sonic excellence and a golden age of classical recorded music was born.
