The 1963 Newport Folk Festival was the biggest event of its kind, with over 70 participating musicians and an audience of over 37,000 patrons. Originally released via Vanguard Records, this is one of six LPs released to document the best of that festival. This LP includes performances by Bessie Jones and the Georgia Sea Island Singers, Jackie Washington, Bob Davenport, Judy Collins, Theodore Bikel, Dave Van Ronk, Jean Redpath, Jean Carignan, and Pete Seeger.
