The final album from The Nice was released after the group disbanded and made it to number 5 on the UK album chart.
When the group ended, Keith Emerson moved on to the group Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Lee Jackson went to Jackson Heights, and Brian Davison to Every Which Way. The Elegy album features live versions of songs from earlier releases and a cover of "My Back Pages".
Tracks include live versions of Tim Hardin's "Hang On To a Dream", Bob Dylan's "My Back Pages", a piece by Tchaikovsky (Pathetique) arranged by the Nice, and America by Bernstein, Sondheim and The Nice.
