This Single-Layer SHM-SACD can only be played on a Super Audio CD Player!
SHM-SACD (Super High Material SACD) is the ultimate Super Audio CD that utilizes the materials and technologies that were developed for the SHM-CD to further enhance the audio-resolution. These discs are made with polycarbonate developed for the screen of the liquid crystal display. As it has a higher transparency, players can read the signal more faithfully. Also, it excels in fluidity, which enables you to cast a more accurate pit. What works wonders for a low resolution format such as CD should offer even greater sonic improvements in a real high resolution format such as SACD.
After the worldwide success of Tommy, Pete Townshend decided to take a second stab at ’rock opera’ and 1973’s Quadrophenia was the result. Its premise is rooted in a teenage perspective in 1964-65, and the friction between ‘mods and rockers’ in the London and Bristol regions of the UK. The four-way split personality of the central figure ‘Jimmy’ has been admitted to by Townshend as also being based on the distinct personalities of the four band members. The legendary Glyn Johns’ production is both powerful and stunning with the writing and arrangements, featuring maybe the most tasteful use of both sound effects and synthesizers in rock recording. Brilliant pianist Chris Stainton (Spooky Tooth) contributes strong support on such songs as The Real Me, The Punk Meets The Godfather, I’m One and Love Reign o’er Me, all classic Who performances.
"The album that brought back Vespa scooters, parkas and uppers: Pete Townshend took a look at the Who's roots in the London mod scene of the early Sixties and composed this expansive, messy rock opera about a lonely teenage boy looking for love in the city. It gets even better when you check out the movie." - www.rollingstone.com
