Instrumental Music with Ingredients of Warm Island Breezes, a Trace of Oriental Spice & Nordic Mood!
Fully Experience the Wonderful Musical Performance & Acoustics of Balinge Church!
Tiny Island was formed by Göran Wennerbrandt in 1989, but on their collaboration with blues artist Eric Bibb in 1993 went under the name of "Needed Time" with basically the same members. During the years 1994 to 1998 either Göran Wennerbrandt or the whole band toured regularly with Eric Bibb in both Europe and Canada.
On this, Tiny Island's debut album, they play instrumental music with ingredients from near and far — warm island breezes, a trace of oriental spice and Nordic mood. All the music has been composed by members of the band with the exception of one piece by Taj Mahal.
"A stone church from the 13th century out in the Swedish countryside. Visions, influences and our own heritage blended together. Beautiful ambience and a peaceful atmosphere. One microphone and our instruments. This is what we played..."
– Tiny Island

The Blumlein recording technique:
Blumlein is a coincident microphone stereo recording technique that has been employed since the inception of Opus3 Records. The technique was invented by the British inventor Alan Blumlein in the 1930s.
Two microphone capsules with the pickup pattern of figure of eight are placed close together so that any differences in the time of arrival of sound is kept to a minimum - in this case a Stereo-microphone.
The front lobes of the Blumlein pair picks up the music with excellent detail and the rear lobes picks up the acoustic of the room where the recording takes place and are the source of most of the reverberation heard.
In this very special recording, you can fully experience the wonderful musical performance and acoustics of Balinge church.
