Solo Album By Dream Theater Guitarist On Double LP!
John Petrucci's Terminal Velocity marks the first solo album by the world-renowned Dream Theater guitarist to be released since 2005's Suspended Animation. Written and produced by John Petrucci, the album sees the return of bassist Dave LaRue, who played on John's debut solo album and subsequent G3 tours, as well as an eagerly anticipated reunion with former Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy.
The 9 songs on Terminal Velocity showcase John's affinity for writing tightly-weaved guitar instrumental powerhouses that feature everything from monster riff breaks to passion-filled melodic themes and all-out shred extravaganzas. The album was recorded by James 'Jimmy T' Meslin and mixed and mastered by Andy Sneap.
John Petrucci is best known as the guitarist, producer, lyricist and founding member of the two-time Grammy nominated progressive metal band Dream Theater as well as the guitarist and founding member of the acclaimed Liquid Tension Experiment. As a solo artist, John is a long standing veteran of Joe Satriani's G3 tours along with Steve Vai, Eric Johnson, Paul Gilbert, Steve Morse and Steve Lukather.
Petrucci has been honored countless times in musician magazines, including in 2019 being voted #1 guitarist in the UK's Prog magazine reader's poll, named Guitarist Of The Year in Spain's Mariskal Rock magazine and voted #1 Prog Guitarist In The World Today by Music Radar. Petrucci also received the Chris Squire Virtuoso Award at the 2019 Progressive Music Awards as well as the prestigious SENA Performer's European Guitar Award and in 2020 John was voted the #1 Guitarist in Japan's BURRN! magazine reader's poll.
Throughout his career, John has spearheaded the research and development of numerous signature guitars and guitar related gear with some of the most successful and respected musical instrument manufactures in the world including Ernie Ball Music Man, Mesa Boogie, DiMarzio, Dunlop and TC Electronic. In a 2015 interview, EBMM CEO Brian Ball called John's signature guitar "the number two selling signature guitar on the planet - and that's only behind Les Paul, which is still considered a signature guitar."
