This early MJQ recording, released on Atlantic in 1957, is another example of the group's highly sophisticated style and performance. With John Lewis on piano, Milt Jackson on vibraphone, Connie Kay on drums and Pearcy Heath on bass, the group works together as a finely tuned machine, with ample room for individuality. With Tom Dowd serving as recording engineer along with supervision by Nesuhi Ertegun, this release captures the smooth texture of the "MJQ" sound and provides exceptional material for an audiophile recording.
