Re-release of the 2005 album from John Darnielle's project, The Mountain Goats. Material for The Sunset Tree comes from his childhood and features domestic violence as a recurring theme.

The album features long time collaborator Peter Hughes, along with Franklin Bruno, and acclaimed jazz cellist Eric Friedlander.
